At Lake Havasu 2008, I gave a ride in my rhino(my Lake Havasu wheelchair) to a guy that is 60 yrs old with no legs(he had them both amputated). We were going only to Havasu Palms from Black Meadow Landing, 10 miles away & back. My wife didn't know if this was a good idea so, she said "Go straight there & straight back, it should take you under 1 hour!" I said OK and then on the way there, I saw a nice dirt road so, I took it only a few miles & then I was making a 3 point turn to turn around, on the final turn, I thought "just a little bit further!" It happened just like that 2 more times. We kept going and it took us for so many miles up the lake, until we saw that we were passing Havasu city about 30 miles later, on the other side of the lake and then we came across a paved road(like the one that you drive your car on) so, we hopped on that going toward the lake until we got to the Havasu Landing campground, where the casino is and I used to get gas in my pontoon boat & seadoo, at the top of the lake, right before I would go up the river. At the front gate as we went in, was a sheriff car and a sheriff that luckily didn't do anything to us since, I have no drivers license, no insurance,no registoration, an illegal vehicle for the street and expired off-road use tags since 2005! After we cruised around the campground for a little bit, we went back out to a gas station that is within a 1/4 mile and parked in a parking space and the sheriff and car were there, so we discussed our options because, he said he was NOT going back on the dirt road that we got there on(chicken), he said that he would stay in the rhino if we drove back on the street though. He said that he was going to use a payphone and call someone from black meadow landing to drive down to the check point, 45 miles away , and then make a right there and go on hwy 95 for a long ways(like 50 miles and then turn right an go like 20 miles to where we were. I said "forget that idea, I will just drive back on the street so right in front of another sheriff we drove over to the gas pumps to get gas and while we were getting gas, the sheriff left. After we got gas we started driving on the street to the highway(freeway) that is 20 miles away doing 40-50 mph and then after 12-13 miles there was a car coming toward us in the other lane and when we were passing each other, I noticed that it was another sheriff car again so, I kept checking in my mirror to see when he was going to turn around and pull us over but, luckily he never did! After going 17-18 miles, I pulled over and said "I'm going to turn around because, this is a bad idea! I will just take you to the payphone so you can call somebody to pick you up and I will go back on the dirt road by myself & hope for the best. Since a 4x4 might travel on it every week or two(there were no vehicles on that road), if I broke down or something! I turned around and it was getting real dark at this point so after a couple of miles I turned on my lights and in a couple more miles, I saw some headlights coming at us so, I slowed down and began driving in the dirt in the emergency lane just in case it was a cop again and when the vehicle went by, sure enough it was a sheriff car again and luckily he did nothing AGAIN. After a couple more miles he tells me that he will go back with me on the dirt road because, he doesn't want any thing to happen on the ride back since, he knows that I can't walk(he had prostetic legs), and then after a couple of more miles he changed his mind again and said that he is not going to go on the dirt road back! He said just take him to the payphone where he can call someone for HELP! At this point I'm thinking that this trip was not a good idea! If I go back on the dirt road and something happens I'M SCREWED! So, we went back to the gas station and he said we should call Stef and ask her to come and get us & leave the rhino there, I said that sounds good and all but I don't know the phone# and he said that he has it so we called Stef(I made him call & talk to her, I knew better) to come pick us up and she said that she almost called 911 and she would come to get us but, she has no idea how to drive there and the guy I was with, told her go to the office there and ask them how to get here so, we sat in the rhino for hours and then after 9:30 PM she showed up not happy at all about this, more like down right pissed off!!! We got home around midnight because, it's like a 2 hour drive doing like 60-65 mph. It's the next day now at 9:00 in the morning and the rhino is still up there! Now I have to find a truck and a trailer and get it back while Stef is at work, she had to be there at 6:45 in the morning. I just hope that the rhino is still there and in 1 piece! My adventure isn't over yet it is just the next day and I want to get the rhino now so, I finally did! I'm finally done with the adventure! My wife can't get bored being married to me!
